Together, we grow not just food, but a thriving, healthier future for all.
Who we are…
Wild Roots Family Farm, located in Miamisburg, Ohio, was established in 2024 by Ben & Erin Deupree with the intent to become the basis for a family legacy. Our family desired to pay homage to both the history of the property we were farming as well as the future of our family through the four sons we’re raising and those we’ve never held. The beautiful things about roots is that those above the surface may never see how large that system is, but the evidence is clear in the health of the tree. Wild roots produce sweet fruit and the same is true of our farm and family.
We were married in 2011, after Ben completed his service in the United States Marine Corps. Together, we welcomed four sons and fell in love, not only with our growing family, but also the aspiration to live a farm-to-table homesteading lifestyle.
Upon the birth of our first son, and with every son born thereafter, we began to see a strong correlation between our health and wellness during the Spring and Summer months, when we ate garden-to-table, and depleted immunity during the Fall and Winter months, when produce was predominantly purchased from the big chain stores. Not only did we notice better health in the garden-to-table months, but also stronger mental health and happier babies in those months as well. Not to mention, the improved taste of our meals. From there, chickens became new members of our family, and we sought out meat sourced from local farms in order to stock our freezers. All of these changes continued to have positive impacts on ourselves and our boys and thus began our dream of homesteading and living farm-to-table, year round.
After NINE years of searching for the right farm, we purchased the Miamisburg property in 2023. It quickly became evident that our endeavor for a healthier lifestyle for our family could also pose a strong benefit to the community around us. Each of our boys are at ages which entrepreneurship is becoming more and more interesting. As a result, Erin's background in law and business development has turned into a training exercise for each of the boys as they embark on their own ventures within the security of the family farm. Each of them has chosen a category of livestock they wish to raise and sell for your benefit.
Our farm functions, not only for income, but also enrichment. Each of our boys understands that there are some animals that nourish our farm and lives as pets/producers, and others who we know will nourish our bodies on our table. Our rule is, if it has a name, it doesn’t hit the table. Regardless of the future they’re intended for, they’ve each received nothing but the deepest love and connection, most attentive care, and sincere gratitude from the beginning.
Today, we are all very proud to offer the products of our growing farm to those around us as they become available. It is our hope that the improvements we have seen in our family's health and wellness will also be enjoyed by others.
The History
The home and farm were built by Dr. Roscius Doan and his wife, Elizabeth, in 1941. Together, with their three sons, they built a beautiful home and life in Miamisburg, OH. Sometime after moving onto the property, Dr. & Mrs. Doan would plant three pine trees in honor of their sons. Many years later, in 2023, our family would seek to honor the legacy of our own family, just as The Doan Family did. Four pine tree seedlings have now been planted on the property to pay homage to the original family and to serve as a daily reminder that we are working, now, to establish a legacy that will outlast our lifetime and carry on with our descendants.
Although the property has historically been known for its owners (e.g. "The Doan Property" or "The Shell Property"), we decided to honor its history of raising strong sons in naming it for the strong foundation of its meaningful pines and the wild boys for whom they have been planted.
We approach this property as a “ground up” experience. Over the years, time and age have touched every part of this property which means a lot of work has and will continue to enable the legacy to continue and prosper. We aren’t just building a home or garden. We are creating a monument to the life and legacy of this family, celebrate the history of the land and community, and create a sustainable source of healthy meat, eggs, and produce for the families we serve.
As a parents who were raised around the tables of our own family homes, we believe that food is a bonding experience. The table is the place we come to be together to connect, to welcome friends, and to make memories. We strive to raise our children strongly rooted in the principles of faith and family. Because the best things come from the best meals, it has become our fervent desire to deliver healthy, nutritious, and transparently sourced food from Wild Roots Family Farm to your table.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family the best we have to offer. We sincerely appreciate your support of this legacy.
